What Is Self Improvement … And What Is It Not?

When I was thinking about what I might write for the first instalment of the “Self Improvement Room Blog”, I actually wrote a 2 part blog about myself and my experience, the life I have lived and how I have drawn from and what I have learned. Then I got thinking, do I want to share something all about me?


I will definitely share my experiences in future blogs, but the very first blog is one of the most important, so I want to talk about the most important things… like …YOU!

Personal development has become an increasingly popular topic in today’s world as people are recognizing the importance of constantly improving themselves in all aspects of their lives.


Personal development is NOT a buzzword or something you can put on your to-do list and mark off when you’ve read a few books! Personal development is not just the latest pair of fashionable jeans, it’s all about developing new skills, acquiring knowledge, creating systems, and achieving your goals.

And it’s a lifelong commitment to becoming the best version of yourself. It requires dedication, perseverance, and a growth mindset. I know this because I tried every other way on the planet! I didn’t want to commit to anything, I couldn’t even commit to getting out of bed for my kids! But in the end, I learned the hard lesson that you have to take action on the things you want.

And that is largely why I created the Self-Improvement Room. A place where you and I can meet weekly and I talk about all of the ways that you can make improvements and massive changes in your life.


A place where I will bridge the gap between you thinking that you’re not the type of person who can do this and you knowing that you are!


When you hear my story, you will see that anyone can make massive changes.


You don’t have to wake up each day and live whatever life dishes out to you.

If you’re waking up each morning and don’t feel excited to carry out your day, or you’re filled with worry, anxiety and even fear, then this blog is for you! If you’re waking up thinking “man, this isn’t what I had in mind for my life, and this is not my dream life, " this blog is for you! If you feel alone and like there should be more to life, this blog is for you!

But I hit rock bottom and I made the changes and I want to share that with you! Actually, I don’t just want to share that with you, I am so excited to share it because I am so passionate.


Let me be your friend, guide, and mentor and let the Self Improvement Room be a place you can visit weekly just for you. Give yourself this time to gather some information and inspiration so you can make the ultimate transformation and start living the life you want to live.


Before you go, I want you to try something with me.


Close your eyes and think about your very happiest memory, really think about it. Sift through your memories until you settle on the one that makes you light up. Now I want you to answer these things in your mind:


🌟What can you see? Look around in your happiest memory and take notice of what you can see


🌟What do you feel? What are those emotions? Are you excited? Do you have goosebumps? Are you so happy you’re overwhelmed?


🌟What can you hear? Are there any sounds in your memory that you can remember?


Now visit that memory as many times as you can throughout the week and take notice of how you feel next week!
